The Japan Centre is the destination for Londoners who want to experience the widest range of Japanese cuisine this side of Tokyo. The flagship space combines dining, retail and specialist departments. Our team created the branding, interior and graphic design.

The space needed to be both practical and theatrical, offering a unique blend of contemporary authentic Japanese shopping experience, dining for 100 covers, dedicated Tea, Sake and Miso areas and entertainment. Our interior design put food at the heart of the project, creating a dynamic environment that answered these different customer needs while performing commercially and translating existing Japan Centre brand heritage into a physical space. Graphically, we evolved the branding and ensured consistency across all touchpoints including category and wayfinding signage.

Turning to merchandising, we drew on the Centre’s brand heritage and contemporary style by choosing understated, elegant materials that ensured that vibrantly-packaged, authentic Japanese food and produce, often hard to source elsewhere in London, were the stars of the show.

We are proud of our relationship with The Japan Centre and were delighted to collaborate on its most recent enterprise, Ichiba Food Hall at Westfield London.
