We have a longstanding relationship with Jarrold, Norwich’s family-run, privately-owned department store. Jarrold asked our team to build on this relationship and track record for commercially successful design the food hall and deli, the first-floor café and create The Bay Seafood Bar, a destination seafood and champagne bar with views of the historic city.
As its name suggests, The Bay specialises in seafood but for practical, commercial reasons needs to work for other day parts including morning coffee. To maximise the effectiveness of the space, we created multi-level seating arrangements to help give each cluster its own unique ambiance. We complemented the generous windows and high ceiling by reducing clutter and designing a light and airy environment that showcases those renowned city views.
Norwich boasts a proud design history which we sought to reference and highlight with natural materials – wooden bar stools with rattan seats, blue-glazed clay tiles and traditional flint walls.
On our third food and drink collaboration with Jarrold we benefitted from a solid understanding of the business’s ambitions and aspirations for The Bay and for their brand as a whole. We were therefore able to create and deliver a design concept and 3D built environment that heroes both the exceptional quality of the produce and the heritage of the Jarrold brand, on time and to budget.
